Had a very late hockey game where we played a full 60 minute/3 period game. I also changed my shot so new muscles being used means everything hurts.

From recent posts I get a slight hint someone in the northern south is into hockey :)

The North South has the best hockey. I’ve always been into hockey(started watching the Preds around 2007 because the Titans sucked) but finally was able to start playing after I graduated form college in May.

I don’t know if I would go with “the best hockey”:) , but it is nice to see that demographics have caught up in some areas. IMO the NHL has over-expanded to the point where all the help is needed.
I’m too old for midnight ice times.

*cough cough* Presidents Trophy *cough cough* lol.
I’ll admit this isn’t Minnesota, but considering the sport entered the market in 1999, it’s insane how much it has grown. I think there are close to 150-0 High School Teams now, let alone the A through D League Teams, travel teams, and some really good players finally coming of age to make it big.

Back in my day, the President’s Trophy was a jinx and seemed to hinder your playoff chances.
When some NHLers are produced, get back to me (transplants from the north who move there at age 17 don’t count) :) .. 20 years ago I knew Texans who were bragging about their newfound hockey presence, and it has been a tough row to hoe.

5th year since the last! haha. This is a much deeper team then it was last year as well.
One of of the cool things has been seeing the Preds pushing for more regional hockey They are all in on pushing it in Nashville. This is the first a few rinks they are building with the City of Nashville.

Looks like a jinx to me. Hockey is a magnet for superstition, I had it down to putting on skates and socks in a certain order.
Are these facilities privately or publicly financed? I guess this might be the strongest sign of southern population migration.

But its the 5th year which means that were on track to win
Ford Ice Center(that is built) and the Bellevue(to be named and is being built) Ice Center are owned by the city and operated by the Predators. There was a private facility in the southern area of Nashville but it apparently made more sense as office space as they closed it down even though it made money. I think the County might do something here soon though. We played 3v3 on a 120 foot sheet of ice used for training and these types of group practices. We also have played on Bridgestone Ice because for the right price anything is open haha.

Or that was just an anomaly, and you are just 5 years into a 25 year President’s drought :)
It’s cool the team sponsors and I assume helps fund facilities - ice is not cheap, and in low tax/low amenity areas, there might not be much room in a public spending budget for it. Although with more population migration, demand might allow it to become more of a regular parks and rec style budget item.
I live in an area that has some ice availability, but recent population booms have also made ice time difficult and not cheap - and land for a facility can be stupendously expensive. If I fell into a large sum, I might have a couple of rinks in my portfolio, operating at cost as a hobby business.
